ORLANDO, Fla. (NewsCore) - Boxer Hector Camacho has turned himself in to police in Orlando after he was charged with child abuse for allegedly assaulting his son.

The 49-year-old former champion is accused of picking up his teenage son by the neck, slamming him to the ground, and stomping on the boy's foot in March 2011.

The boy reportedly told police Camacho was "high on drugs" at the time and looking for a bag of money at his ex-wife's home. The Florida State Attorney's Office filed charges in November.

Camacho surrendered to authorities Monday and posted a $5,000 bond.

A representative of the Puerto Rican boxer told TMZ Tuesday that Camacho does not use drugs, and that, "everything has been resolved between him and his family."

The representative said the dispute was over money, but said Camacho called police himself before any physical altercation occurred.

Camacho owns a career record of 79 wins, five losses and three draws, with 38 victories by knockout. Camacho held lightweight and light welterweight titles in the 1980s and early 90s. He has not fought since a unanimous decision loss in May 2010.

Another of his sons, Hector Camacho Jr., is also a successful boxer, owning a career record of 52-4 with one draw.
