It's time to put an end to this disaster.Look, I admire the replacement refs-- they're working hard and trying their best, but -- let's be honest -- they aredefinitely in over their heads. It wasn't so bad during the pre-season. In fact, it waskind of cool to see these bottom-drawer refs getting a shot at the bigs. Almostinspirational in a Shane Falco (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fan97hHZcM) sort of way. But nowwe're neck deep in games that actually count for something, and these Equusquagga (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/60/Equus_quagga.jpg) are dropping more calls than .Making an overzealous pass-interference call (or 20) isn't the end of the world, but thereplacements are putting a wrench into the very nuts and bolts of the game. They're givingunusual penalty yardage (see: Detroit-Tennessee), allowing teams to call extra timeoutsand make challenges they shouldn't be allowed to make (see: San Francisco-Minnesota) andseem pretty unsure of themselves (see: every game). There are some basic rules infootball, and these refs just don't seem that well versed in them (could be why theLingerie Football League just fireda bunch of them (http://deadspin.com/5946112/the-lingerie-football-league-announces-that-it-fired-a-couple-crews-which-apparently-are-now-officiating-in-the-nfl-because-of-incompetence)).These botched calls aren't just affecting the flow of thegame; they're affecting the outcome of games, player safety and, ultimately, fanenjoyment.Player SafetyWith calls seemingly going either way after just about every whistle, teams are playingconfused, yes, but mainly over-the-line football. Basically, they're trying to see howmuch they can get away with. And it's a lot.LB Joe Mays gave MattSchaub a late hit, and the QB lost a piece of his ear (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owA894Z74W8). EliManning (http://www.askmen.com/celebs/men/celeb_profiles_sports/5_eli_manning.html) and Ben Roethlisberger are other QBs who have also been targeted with hard,over-the-line hits.In the GB/Seattle game -- in which there were literallydozens of blown calls -- CB Brandon Browner gave Greg Jennings a cheap shot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6f2iTV0noc), but somehow they endedup with off-setting penalties. It’s getting dangerous out there, andpretty soon we’re going to start losing players. The replacement refs are unable tocontrol the game, and that’s unacceptable. You know what else isunacceptable?Refs workingthe fantasy angle (http://tracking.si.com/2012/09/18/lesean-mccoy-replacement-ref-fantasy-eagles/) and showing Facebooklove (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/nfl/story/2012/09/16/replacement-official-must-be-fired/57790784/1) to their favorite team -- right before working a game, with that very team. The Outcome Of GamesDo we honestly really need any more evidence than this?Look, we could run through allof the bad calls (http://www.askmen.com/top_10/fitness_top_ten_60/60_fitness_list.html)we’ve seen so far, but who has time to replay the [I]entire season? The FansWe’re pissed. We love football -- but not like this. We don’t want to watchslow, plodding games because there’s a whistle after every play or because the refscan't make up their minds on what they want tocall (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EH4pb2Cxivs&feature=related). We don’t want to see our favorite players stretchered off the field. Wedon’t want to see our team lose -- or win -- because of a bad call.Losses are enraging. Victories are hollow. On September 17th, a week beforethe great Seahawks-Green Bay debacle, Peter King, the preeminent SI writer, tweeted: "Thelegitimacy of the National Football League is at stake." He’s right. The league needs to settle this dispute with the refs. Hammer out a new CBA --find some middle ground on salaries and pensions -- and end the lockout.Ifthis labor dispute doesn’t end soon, 2012 will need a big asterisk next to it in therecord books. And that would be a real disaster. What do youthink?Have the refs blown any calls against your team? Are you a Seahawks fan? What do you think about the Great Tate debate?Who should blink first -- the refs or the league? Continue Reading (http://www.askmen.com/sports/news/nfl-referees.html)

i dont have a problem with these guys at all. they make mistakes and so did the regular guys. so freaking what, it is a damn game and they get paid a ton of money to do it. that is the bottom line. people take this stuff way to seriously.

they totally fucked up the packers game...they should be fined, suspended, etc...it's a privilege to have the job they have...nobody owes them anything til they prove themselves...this is all roger goodell's fault though

Right on bro..problem is...GAMBLING. Way to much money is being lost on bad officiating. Sure the regs made mistakes, but this is a whole different level of inept, unsure refs who are costing Vegas $ now...bound to cause more probs
