just like the states that are now requiring drug testing for assistance, the ACLU will contest this one....."it's racist to put limits on welfare".....really? i guess getting off your ass, getting a job, and not leaching off the taxpayers is racist too then?

It definitely makes strong sense to set clear limits on how long people can collect welfare checks and if Michigan's law is solid and is upheld by the courts then this should be a model for a Federal law.

There's so many people who just are too damn lazy to get out there and work so this law should prod them into actively seeking work and keeping a job once they get one.

As for drug testing, it should be a combination of random announced and unannounced testing and be clearly disclosed on the application form. Signing and cashing each check means you attest to being drug free for that period and agreeing to the terms. If the drug testing is applied fairly and evenly to EVERYONE who is on welfare then what does the ACLU have?

there are conditions to this also. like the elderly who dont get enough s.s. or people with disabilities who can not work. but lazy is not a disability...

man this is a long time coming. there are 3-4 generations of people who do this its away of life for them...
