As many of you know here I bought my first home back in september. We just got our first electric bill and it was $189 for 2 months. I don't think that sounbds too bad but i was curious what other people's electric bills are like. My home has oil heat, electric stove and a washer/dryer and the house is around 1800-2000sqft, not sure exactly.

Well I'm an eletric saver so mine isnt too bad, also house is smaller (1450 sq ft) and I live alone which helps a lot. I unplug everything when not in use, have the twisty light bulbs, and I work a lot so not home all that much. My electric runs everything but my stove and heat. I pay $50-$75 a month

A generator used at certain times will save plus they kick ass when all your neighbor's power is out.

I have the highest electric in the United States. Our city has ONE PROVIDER. It is a corrupt, fucking monopoly here.

$150-180 a month for an apartment. I fucking kid you not.

What kind? Gas powered would run me like $20 a day. Sadly these assholes can generate power cheaper than I can. lol

....yeah here in Texas, we use natural gas for heat and electric for a/c. I know that oil heat vs natural gas is more expensive cause I used to live in CT, but my average summer bill for 1600 sq ft house is 200 and winter bill is 150, so I guess not too bad !

Damn! That's expensive for an apartment...that one provider can charge anything they want since there is no competition...that is ridiculous!

Mine runs 200 to 300 a month. But that is high as hell for a apartment. Everything in the house runs on electric.

Yeah. The Governor of this state is lobbied by them every time he's up for election. The Utilities Commission has NEVER shot down a rate increase when asked by our Electric provider. Why? Because they are shareholders of the providers stock! The more money they make, the more the board makes on their dividends. It's fucking crap. Oh, now our former dipshit senator is the CEO of this place. Such corruption in my town. It's sickening.
