Did Microsoft Really Walk Away A Winner From E3?

E3 2013 was the best year of the conference in quite some time. Not only because there was new hardware on deck, but also because just about every publisher and developer showcased great software. Whether you're a PlayStation loyalist or an Xbox head, there were more games on display than anyone could play in a lifetime and still have a productive life. For once, the good stuff far outweighed the bad, so check out the winners and losers of the biggest gaming show on the planet.

WINNERS

Ubisoft
As far as publishers go, it looks as if Ubi will own Fall 2013. They showed a bevy of titles at the show that looked phenomenal and pushed the envelope for current- and next-gen. In a nutshell, Watch Dogs introduced an entire hackable city to the open world game format while racing game The Crew introduced RPG and MMO to the genre.


Electronic Arts
EA's star-studded E3 press conference kicked off their show with a bang. EA sports had Grammy award winning artist Drake in the building to talk about FIFA and UFC champ Jon "Bones" Jones aside UFC head Dana White to rep their upcoming 2014 title. In addition to sports games, Titanfall, Need for Speed and Battlefield 4 helped make the EA booth arguably the most popular at the show.

PlayStation
After Sony's 2006 E3 misstep, not many thought they would announce the price of PS4. We were all wrong: not only did Sony announce the price, they announced one that would turn the industry on its head. Sony's appeal to gamers made them a winner as well, as they announced that there would be no restrictions on used games played on PS4. Sony lost the current-gen war but they are the early favorite in the next-gen battle.

Microsoft
Xbox One has been hit with a lot of slander since it was officially announced. Consumers are upset that they won't be able to play games offline or share many titles without paying a fee. Although it alienates hardcore gamers, we just have to accept the fact that Microsoft is positioning the One to be more than just a gaming console. The exclusive partnerships with Twitch and the NFL make the machine game changing. Plus the hottest game at the show -- Titanfall -- is an Xbox exclusive title. Continue Reading
