interesting psych topic yesterday....

ok so my teacher yesterday got on the topic of obesity, in my human growth and development class, she said there are viruses you can catch that will cause you to be obese.... her words were that you could be in an elevator and someone sneezes and you catch a virus that will cause you to rapidly gain weight and make it very hard to lose... i haven't done any research on it but it sounds odd. she also went on to say that if you exercise and eat healthy(keeping your immune system up) your body is more likely to fight off the virus. what do you guys think? bs or possible?

well since psychology is a "gray area" subject and there's really no "black and white".....she's full of shit.....however, you CAN "psych" yourself into feeling sick or worse and they hormones your brain produces can wear down your immune system.....read up on hypochondria and variations of hypochondria....i did a paper on it during summer semester i can email you

oh trust me i know allll about hypochondria.... lol half my family is like that.... but i would love to read that paper.

it's only a basic informative paper (intro to psych class) so since you're already familiar it wouldn't be worth your time....i did get a A on it though!!!

Just wondering if she was over weight, if she is maybe personally she might use that as her excuse.Just kind of wondered because that seems mighty strange , like the twilight zone.

Sounds like bs to me. I'd ask her to show you some research that proves this. It is my understanding that you can not grow without calories.. so what if this person with this virus only eats 1000 calories a day?

thats exactly what i was thinking... i think its bs. i asked her about the names of the viruses and she said they only had numbers and she dident know them. so im pretty sure shes full of it
