Having a prescription for HRT?
Might not be a bad idea. I think I should do it. Just to be legit. What has been your experience in getting a script for test? Are there some legit online places to get it done that don't cost an arm and a leg? Theres got to be some online MDs who will write a script. Or would you recommend that I find a local MD and go that route?
Re: Having a prescription for HRT?
I wen to a local urologist and told him that I want to be put on HRT. What they will do is take blood and see where your test level is at and if its low then they should put you on it. But they might try the cream first. Tell them you have tried the cream and it gave you a rash every where you put it. I'm in my 40's so why now. I have a cool urologist
Re: Having a prescription for HRT?
I would suggest a Local Doc...Its really easy and alot more convient than a online site that might be shut down next month!
I would go after a cycle and wait a couple weeks after last shot depending on what u were taking...Just to make sure ur T Levels are way below normal and a regiment of cyp 200 will prolly be prescribed every week to 2 weeks...The Lotion(cream) is a waste of time and if ur doc attempts to give u that product talk him outta it...Like posted above say u get a rash from that product or simply get a new Doc..IMO u pay the doc and if u arent getting the products u want than find another Doc that will.
Re: Having a prescription for HRT?
Try allthingsmale.com this is not a source but rather a legit clinic.
Re: Having a prescription for HRT?
You could try SPECTRUM HRT BRO, they are out of Florida and I have used them before.Maybe Spectrumhrt.com?I will have to look it up as I haven't used them in awhile.Labs went up to $300. for blood work and I wasn't going there at the time. The good thing about them is I could order like five 10 cc bottles of test cyp . or whetever at a time but they would not let you reorder until those were used up at 1cc a week (along time) but I always supplemented with other gear from other sources.I wanted a legal script just in case. The way I dropped my levels sucked but paid off.I went cold turkey for around 2 to 3 months then hit them up for a blood test.Felt like shit but it worked ,LOL. Hit me up if anyone needs more info.
Re: Having a prescription for HRT?
FUZO hit the nail on the head. Whatever you d, avoid the transdermals at all costs. If the dr insists, tell him you will go see someone else. That stuff is worthless and a pain in the ass.
Re: Having a prescription for HRT?
Forgot to mention, you will also need to have the following items checked besides just Total Testosterone and Free Testosterone.
LH, FSH, Thyroid, cholesterol, full Lipid + chem panel, Estradiol, GnRH, IGF-1, GhRH (Igfbp3 I think??), cortisol, Dhea, PSA (prostate check), and finaly liver + kidney values.
You should also get a full physical (with the dreaded hand-operated prostate check) if you havent had one done in the last 12 mos.
Once you get all the blood work done and get yourself a copy of it, LMK. I can refer you to a good HRT clinic if you'd like, and their prescription prices are pretty good. :)

You are right, but it is not always that easy to gets docs to test you for all of this. Some do test you for what you ask for but others won't. If it is a urologist that is prescribing it, he may not do all of this blood work up but an endocrinologist might.

Re: Having a prescription for HRT?
baby1-
u are correct, some Dr's might not want to check everything. But if you insist on it, and you're adamant, most should. Hell, I've even had one tell me "ok, I will test for all these things at your request, but I'm writing it in the notes" (you know, like that Seinfeld show where Elaine was the bad patient? LOL!)
I told him "fine with me, write whatever you want, as long as I can get all those items checked. I'm paying for this visit, and the blood work out of pocket anyway" And that was that.
Most Doctors and nurses are too smart for their own good. You know, with all the schooling they have, they think they know all the answers when they really dont? I also like to tell/ask the "know-it-all's", How can we be sure I dont have anything wrong (ie- something caused by heredity, allergy, illness, cancer, Hiv, ulcers, or whatnot), if we don't check EVERYTHING to make sure?
Just stay on them, keep insisting on what you want, after all, it's your body, your safety and health you're worried about! Besides, they work for you remember.
PS.
I'm too cheap (or is it too smart?) to have to screw with going to a urologist!
Re: Having a prescription for HRT?
I have had my share of doctors and honestly, I have VERY little faith in them. I tend to question them a lot and I don't care if they like it or not. I agree that you need to push for what you want and I have gotten rid of doctors if I don't get what I ask for. To me they are no better than me, and they surely don't know it all. They can be very judgemental just on how you look.

You will get what you want eventually.
Re: Having a prescription for HRT?
Spectrum has you fill out and online list of questions and you just tell them what they want to hear,ex: yes I am tired all the time, no I don't sleep well, yes my body fat is up , my sex drive is down etc........They will send you a package with everything you need to get the blood work done vials paper work all, they will also find the nearest Concentra medical facility to your home and set you an appointment they will then tell you not to discuss your reason for the blood work with anyone at concentra (for obvious reasons), just tell them it is for a wellness checkup.Concentra FED-EX's the labs, BOOM your done.Just wait on a call with your results. They did ask me if I had ever used hormones before and NO is the answer. They do test everything from GH, cholesterol, thyroid etc......
