The latest 007 flick Skyfallis going to be screened in IMAX, meaning that all the traditional action, hot cars,hotter babes, and gratuitous shots of DanielCraig’s package will be super-sized for the audience’s pleasure.This makes good on director Sam Mendes’ promise this week that his Bond moviewould be a “big, fabulous, glamorous, escapist movie” that would harken backto the days of Connery.Skyfall will be the first of the series to gointo IMAX cinemas, just in time to coincide with the franchise’s 50th anniversary.The film is not actually being shot in the IMAX format -- that requires large, unwieldycameras -- but is instead going through post-production tinkering that will enable it tofit the massive screens.“It’s an honor and a privilege to be apart of this legendary franchise,” said Greg Foster, chairman and president of IMAXFilmed Entertainment. “The film’s iconic characters and electrifying actionwill only be amplified in the IMAX format.”This, of course, is corporatechat for, “Roll on the money.” IMAX screenings have helped bolster audiencefigures for the likes of Harry Potter, MI4 and Avatar.Skyfall is currently filming across London (number of shots needed of a pensiveJudi Dench in a car: lots) and on its traditional home turf of Pinewood.
