      Red meat has now joined marijuana as society’s biggest villain. According to every new study, it’s basically a crime to eat it. Not only does it cause cancer, death and heart disease, but it also makes little puppies cry and turns rainbows black. Well, here’s some positive news for those who still like to enjoy a good cut of steak from time to time: Red meat makes us happy. Researchers from Deakin University in Australia found that those who ate less than the recommended dose of beef were twice as likely to be diagnosed with depression or anxiety. That rang true all across the board, regardless of diet, weight, age, what kind of shape the person was in and economic status. Interestingly enough, fish and chicken consumption didn’t produce the same happiness. So, while many studies tell us that red meat needs to be avoided at all costs, the truth is that you still need some. Just use some good old-fashioned moderation. Continue Reading
