Every week, we highlight the rad, the bad and the straight-up sad in music. This week, special guest contributor Steve Sparrow, the lead singer of rock band MorningParade, reveals five tracks he thinks we should add to our playlist rightnow. Editor's Pick: "Headlights" By Morning Parade
It's no coincidence that MorningParade, an alternative rock band, hails from the UK, since, these days, it seems like mostof the new music that has us melting butter in our pants comes from across the pond.Earlier this year, they released their self-titled debut album (available here), which has since been getting pick-up from giants likeMTV UK, Vogue.it, and they made their U.S. TV debut on The TonightShow this past Monday performing, you guessed it, "Headlights." The lyrics inthe song (You're steady as I come undone/You're quietly bound/But I'll keep my promises/Iwon't let you down) are endearing and a message most guys can relate to. The band will betouring with The Wombatsthis September and October. We caught up with Steve Sparrow, the lead singer, who revealsthe five tracks that he thinks we should all know about.

"White Foxes" by Susanne SundforIt's a song I've been listening to for afew months now; it's one of my favorite releases this year so far. The vocal performanceblows my mind, and friends who have seen her say she nails it live, too. I love the themesand journey of the song. It's nice to hear something with so many melodic twists andturns."Holocene" by Bon IverI've been in love with Justin Vernon'ssongs since I was at university. I listened to For Emma, Forever Ago every nightbefore I slept. The new record has fast become an equal, with "Holocene" and the followingtrack, "Towers," being my favorites. It's so pure, so rich and lyrically stunning. Simplybeautiful."Iscariot" by Walk the MoonWe've been touring with these boys, and Ihad the pleasure of hearing this song a fair few times live. When they first soundcheckedit the hairs on my neck stood on end. Nick has written something so beautiful from a placeof anger -- top lads and a smashing album."Laura" by Bat for LashesHeard this the other day and checked out some liveversions. Mindblowing. I can't wait to get my ears around the whole album."It's My Own Cheating Heart" by GlasvegasI adore the first Glasvegas record."Flowers and Football Tops," "Geraldine," "Daddy's Gone" and this are all huge standoutsongs for me. James Allan's vocal delivery and the rhythm and meter that the lyricdictates blow my mind. Sandwiching syllable after syllable into gaps you didn't thinkexisted only serve to intensify the sentiment, like he's stumbling over himself to confessall. I love it -- heart on your sleeve honesty at its most brutal.
