Mr Olympia 2012 Results: Winners, Complete Events Recap, More
      By Michael Moraitis

The 2012 Mr. Olympia competition is complete and the winner on the men's side is Phil Heath, who has successfully defended his crown from 2011.

As the event went on, it was clear that Mr. Olympia 2012 was a two-man race between Heath and fellow competitor, Kai Greene.

Things were looking great for Greene at the start, but after going side-by-side with Heath during the confirmation round, Greene looked inferior to the reigning champion.

The roundness of Heath's muscles topped that of Greene's and while the two were comparable from the back, Heath's density made the difference. It was Heath's rear lat pose that showed his superior thickness.

Evan Centopani was a pleasant surprise this year as the rookie finished strong in his Mr. Olympia debut, placing eighth.

Many people wrote off Toney Freeman as being finished in bodybuilding, but the 46-year old went on to impress his way to a seventh-place finish.

Shawn Rhoden had an extremely impressive showing this year, improving on his 11th place in his last Mr. Olympia competition to third in the 2012 version.

Next year looks to be an even more exciting event than the 2013 version. We already know that Greene and Heath are in a class all their own, but the inclusion of four-time champion Jay Cutler will add another element to this competition. Cutler had to miss 2012 because of an injury.

The 2013 Mr. Olympia will no doubt be a three-man race between Heath, Greene and Cutler, barring injury.

Let's take a look at the full results for all the major events.

I actually stayed up to watch this last night. Definitely feel phil deserved the win but it was the closest i've seen this contest come down to. I would have liked to have seen dexter third and shawn fourth. I was a little disappointed in branch's conditioning, i think he needs to try someone/something different for next year's prep. i think i may have had wolf and branch flip flopped for fourth and fifth.
I alsso have one side comment and that is that no one seemed super dry. Are these guys not hitting the diuretics? It seems a lot of them had a thin film of water. I know they were all phenominal but at the O you expect them to really pull out all the stops and i didn't see that super dry look.

Having watched a lot of kais videos i beleive he is going to be relentless in his pursuit for the sandow next year and while i love phil, he is going to have a tough time with kai next year. With jay's return i still only see phil and kai fitting for 1 and 2. Jay has been a great champ and i like his personality but he really would have to reinvent his physique to try and come back to win this thing.

it was the stage lighting that made them look soft ce. that's what i think. i dont agree with you on placing though. i dont think phil was 100% and he didnt make any improvements to me and kai looked completely different.

as for the 212 i completely disagree with that one as well. i had david henry or jose raymond winning it. that is just my opinion and bodybuilding is so hard to call with a combo of politics and what the judges are looking for.

i will say that if phil does a repeat of what he did next year his reign as mr o wont last as long as everyone thinks it will

i forgot to mention the 212 and i agree with you, dave henry was much better than flex and i'm a big flex fan. Henry is hard and dense and a freak in that class.
guns, how do you feel about dexter in third? or wolf ahead of branch?

I agree with the lighting...it made them all look soft...and of course, politics always plays a role whenever money is involved. I think just like any sport, when you have a world champion, they are always considered at the very top until someone proves, without a doubt, that they are better.

well dexter brought it this time and he is perfect by the standard of the scoring system so i can live with him in 3d. i like branch a lot as a person have met him a few times, wife speaks to his on the phone and email every now and again but as far as scoring on the card and his look, it isnt right. now when he is rock hard and conditioned he can hang and kill the regular guys but not with guys with lines like kai and phil or jay. as for wolf being behind him not this time. if wolf is on hell yeah hands down but then going to the cards, branch takes him on the entire leg, the back and over all muscularity. so that is a hard one to call. if wolf could nail in his hams to hang from the sides and pop from the back he could do some serious damage but i think he has pretty much met his potential in adding muscle in that area

I agree with guns01. It was close, but I was putting Kai over Phil.
