      Default step machine

I know this question sounds stupid, but the new gym I go to, is a shithole and only has treadmills, steppers and bikes. I need to be doing a lot of cardio and figured the stepper is my best option, question is exactly how do you do it? Is it very short strides, or long and deep, all the way down w/ one foot then w/ the other?

I'm not sure it makes that much of a difference. When I do the stepper I actually do both long and short strides. I notice that I start to feel a burn faster with short strides.

Short strides really hit the glutes. I can't do it for more than 10 minutes ...

The ones I use only have one setting and the strides are not too long and not too short, but I sure do get a burn real fast on that bad boy...

Not too sure which would be best...

I agree with Miss Diesel. I used to hit it from 30-45 minutes but that was 10 years ago. Now, I have to build my stamina back up to get it to 30. I'm still at 15 minutes of quick and short strides and 30 minutes of treadmill (speed 2 mph/incline 10).
