Haven't done it, but one of buddies studied the effect of ice baths on muscular inflammation following training for his master's thesis. He filled the hydrostatic weighing tank in the lab with ice water (sounded like HELL to me) and threw some subjects in there following a bout of eccentric downhill running.

The result: While the ice bath reduced inflammation, it also negated any positive effects of training.

I think it would help a lot for your inflammation, just don't take the plunge right after you train

I'm going to fill my bath up with cold water and try to sit in it as long as I can to help with my Inflammation. Mabey 2x a week.

i tried something like this years ago after i read an article about hot/cold showers producing more test.hot for 2 minutes then ice cold for 2 minutes.i did it once and never again altho they say cold showers are the best for you overall healthwise.

Haha yeah I bet it hurts like a bitch! The guy doing the ice bath study at my lab had the hydrostatic weighing tank filled with water and ice cubes floating around the top, looked like torture. Body temperature drops fast in cold water, so keep don't keep yourself in there too long. When subjected to extreme cold stress, one of the body's initial responses is shivering, but eventually you'll stop shivering even though your body temperature is still dropping. You'll feel relaxed but it doesn't mean you're safe. I don't think you'll have to worry much about it unless your in there for a long time but be careful regardless.
