Tweetbasically the same concept but then again we and they were executing them while they were surrendering. what type of interrogation techs were allowed during that time frame. also that was a declared war with enemies that wore uniforms and belonged to a government sponsored military that had military goals
TweetI fail to see the difference, enemy combatants, or uniformed military- either way their goal was to kill our soldiers in any way possible. That's just semantics.
I think it impossible for the US to claim the high moral ground when you stoop to torture. Despite what any diehard nationalist wants to believe, global perception and support is critical in this time.
If we're gonna play dirty, then fine, but then we can't claim to be better than them.

TweetTed? Is that you?
Interviewer: "Youre a serial killer."
Ted: "No I'm not".
Interviewer: "You're saying you're not a serial killer--but you've serially killed"
Ted: "Well, yeah! But that's just semantics." Sorry, second time I've ever heard that word used in regard to human life and it made me think of that funny quote from him lol
Also I read your post on your view on welfare and totally agree. You need to put in some if you're going to get some back
Tweeti see your point but dont have to agree with it and here is my reasoning:
war and armed conflict are governed by the laws of war and geneva convention. the vast majority of civilized countries have signed these agreements. when you have terrorists and insurgent fighters they are not governed by either one this is the difference. like i said before i love a good heated debate but if you want a dose of how they play watch the videos. if you agree with it it is your opinion but this guy not so much. what the cia and other government agencies do to prevent my fellow warriors from possibly being injured or killed poor it on. if it isnt public knowledge with youtube videos and broadcast over our wonderful news, it has no effect on me.
i completely agree with the majority of what you say bro but i wont budge on the treatment of enemy combatants i have personally bled sweated and been away from my family and friends entirely too much to give them any slack or sympathy.
i would still vote for you for president though as long as i could be secretary of defense. haha
Tweeti would like to throw in their that i value everyone's opinions and such. i do not mind to be critiqued at all. i actually enjoy it. i never take politics personally because they are all a bunch of corrupt liars with an agenda
TweetI have no pity for terrorists who use civilians as shields, or kidnap then behead american workers or soldiers. But I think a distinction needs to be made between those men, and those who are simply pissed off natives who are fighting an invading force.
I can empathize with men who are simply taking up arms against an invading force. If China invaded the US tomorrow, I'd be fighting them tooth and nail, but I'd be part of no military force and I'd be an "enemy combatant" to the Chinese.
For me I think it boils down to that I can't condone torture in any instance, as I would not want me or my fellow country men to be subjected to torture. I think as the global super power we have a duty to be held to the highest standard or else we set a dangerous precedent for the world to follow in our foot steps as their justification for bending the rules if/when the time comes.

TweetAs long as we all are cool in here then hey speak away
Tweeti can respect that in hulk that is very well put.
Tweeti will say one more time i love this debate even more than normal cause what in hulk says actually makes a lot of sense and he brings up some good points. i dont have to fully agree with him but it is very well put.
