Default private search engine (unlike google)

I would suggest using startpage.com for any searches that you don't want easily tracked by third parties. startpage utilizes google to enhance searches so it does a good job, but is also private, see below:

      Startpage Protects Your Privacy!

      Startpage is powered by Ixquick.
The only search engine that does not record your IP address.
      Your privacy is under attack!

Every time you use a regular search engine, your search data is recorded. Major search engines capture your IP address and use tracking cookies to make a record of your search terms, the time of your visit, and the links you choose - then they store that information in a giant database.

Those searches reveal a shocking amount of personal information about you, such as your interests, family circumstances, political leanings, medical conditions, and more. This information is modern-day gold for marketers, government officials, hackers and criminals - all of whom would love to get their hands on your private search data.

You could also refresh or renew your IP address.

      1. Open the Command Prompt (from the Start button, go to Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt).
      2. In the command prompt window, type ipconfig to see current ip address
      3. In the command prompt window, type ipconfig /release
      4. In the command prompt window, type ipconfig /renew
      5. Exit the Command Prompt by typing exit

If that doesnt work you could call your ISP and ask for a change of IP address.

doesn't that only apply to dynamic ip's? what reason would you give the isp for requesting a change of ip? I'm sure you could only do that a time or two and then flags go up.
