      Default Veteran's Day

      hey everyone,
today is a day that is very important to our country, right up there with the 4th of july. the people that serve in uniform today are all volunteers and asked to be where they are. they are making sacrifices that many can not even imagine on a day to day basis. many will give up life and limb for the rights of others and to protect their brothers without one second guess. so on this day of recognition take a moment to thank someone you know that is serving, or someone that you dont even know.

Veteran's Day...it has always been important in my family growing up because my dad and his three brothers (my uncles) have served long military careers. It means even more, now!

Had a family member who was a Vietnam Vet and was never the same after that. He took his life with a gun to the head.

sorry to hear that baby. i dont think alot of people understand the toll that is taken on a combat vet. i know my mom told me when my dad returned from vietnam she would wake up in the middle of the night and find him sleeping in the closet. this was before i was born. he also had all of his army year book like things at the house from when he was in the 101st airborn while in vietnam but never once to this day talks about vietnam....

in my opinion if you like the war or not you need to thank the vets for being there and doing what our country has asked of them....

very well put apbt. no one asked to go to war, they do what they are told. they deserve everyone's respect and support cause if it wasnt for all of these brave young men and women in uniform today then you would get your draft notice like they did for the other wars. this says a lot about the people in the military today

i have to say a big thank you and hats off to applebees and golden coral. both of these dinning establishments are giving a free meal to all active duty members and veterans. golden carol is also doing their family members as well. for those of you that didnt know this go and check it out. you can meet some cool old vets as far back as ww2. i dont take the free meals any more but i did as a young leather neck when money was tight. now i will go and hang out and bs with the older generation of vets. those guys are true heros and they always thank the younger generation even though we had a choice and most of them didnt. anyway those guys are some of the coolest people you will ever meet and this is a great chance to do so
