It's by no means a done deal yet. Don't think that the overwhelming majority vote in favor of the bill means too much. Many of the representatives (on BOTH sides) could have made sure the bill would be vetoed before they cast their vote, and made sure their pharm company lobbyists understood that. That way, they get to look good to their constituents, "Hey, I tried to fight Washington on this, FOR YOU, I really tried..." AND they get to collect from the pharm companies. Bush doesn't have to worry about re-election, so he can take hits for representatives on this, if they do something for him on some other score. Backs are scratched, and nothing is quite so simple as the newspaper paragraph on the subject.
Good sense is the best distributed thing in the world: for everyone thinks himself so well endowed with it that even those who are the hardest to please in everything else do not usually desire more of it than they possess.

I agree Strat but I'm still hoping it does not get vetoed because it would definitely be a step in the right direction to help people out with the cost of Rx drugs....

The other thing to consider is that if this law goes through, it isn't like they're going to lay off 1/3 of the customs staff. It would just free up their man-hours to search other packages. So be careful what you wish for.

Yeah, great a step in the right direction but it hasn`t passed the senate and with bush`s aproval rating in the dumps what`s to stop him from making an unpopluar veto..
